California Review

Okay as many of you know I have spent the last two weeks in California using my ten year reunion as a reason to go back. During the whole planning stage of my trip I wasn’t excited, nervous, or even really looking forward to it. I had become so numb and if anything was worried about the friends I had lost touch with and how crappy a friend I had been.

I had arrived in San Francisco just past midnight on the 15th, yep my birthday and I was back in Cali for the first time in more then two years. I headed to Humboldt first and found that although times change and the place was filled with memories that I could go a long time with out stirring, I had the best birthday I have had in a long time. I went to see Pirates had dinner but it was the fact that I was with people who truly care about me and I them that had been missing in my life for a long time.

When I got to Hanford a few days later I found out something that I had forgotten a long time ago. I had a family even though I wasn’t related to one of them. Catching up with old friends, making old jokes, talking about the future, and sitting around just playing video games, it was simple things but they are always the things that mean the most.

The reunion was less then I expected but then I did try to help the DJ he just didn’t want help, even though he didn’t know the system. I won two gag awards, the yahoo who came the farthest to be there, and the person who has lived in the most places. I was at about 15 with the closest person behind me was 7 I think no matter what I will always win that one. The best part was after the reunion; we went to chili’s and just sat around catching up. These were the people that I had spent so much time with in High School and it reminded me how special each person was, and how I would love to have them back in my daily life.

I then went to Southern California and visited some friends but next time I would love to see more. Things just didn’t work out the way I hoped, although going to Santa Barbara did remind me why I like college towns.

After everything in those busy two weeks I realized something, I want to go back. It will take me some time to save but I plan to move back to California and try to find a theater job in Fresno. Hey I have to go back to see everyone else. Again thanks to everyone for the reminder.
